The Story I Almost Didn’t Celebrate

41 shows later, I’m still here. Here’s what I’ve learned.

Hey there ,

I’m sitting here with my coffee, thinking back on a wild six years—

And honestly? I almost didn’t send this email.

Because six years ago, I thought I’d do this once.

I called it What’s Your Story Slam—mainly because my company was already called WYSH (What’s Your Story, huh?)

No master plan. No long-term strategy.

Just one mic, one show, and one wild idea.

Now?

41 shows later, I’m still here.

And honestly… a little shocked.

Not because the idea was bad.

But because I had no idea what I was starting.

Since 2019:

✅ 41 shows

✅ Hundreds of stories

✅ Thousands of audience members

And every single time, someone walks off that stage… different.

That’s what keeps me coming back.

💥 Stories That Changed Everything

🎤 Leslie quit his Wall Street job after his alarm clock broke. Spent two years travelling the world. Came back to finance—on his own terms.

🎤 Artur, the shy beekeeper, started a terrible band to impress a girl. Got the girl—and learned that loyalty > looking cool.

🎤 Adeline broke up with her fiancé because a psychic told her she’d marry someone named J. Three weeks later, she met Jeff. 10 years later—happily married, two kids.

Not coincidence.

This is what happens when you own your story.

😬 Behind the Mistakes

I’ve made every mistake along the way:

🔸 Launched shows in the heat of Singapore’s summer

🔸 Ignored school holiday calendars (oops)

🔸 Tried to host, perform, and produce all at once (never again)

But people kept showing up.

And stories kept doing what they always do:

Change people. Connect people. Free people.

💡 6 Years Taught Me This:

Your messy, imperfect, human story is your superpower.

It’s what makes people care.

It’s what makes you unforgettable.

It’s what turns competence into connection.

🎭 The Next Chapter: Sept 9 – Theme: The Great Escape

And this time…

I’m telling a story, too.

After six years of hosting, I’m stepping into the storyteller’s spotlight.

You’re part of my inner circle, so here’s early access:
